Happy Holidays!

happy-holidays

As the holiday season begins, we want to thank all of our partners for your tireless efforts this past year. Your commitment to promoting working family tax credits and providing free tax assistance directly improves the lives of your clients and neighbors. These vital services provide more money for workers to support their families, help children to excel in school, and increase earnings in the next generation. During the 2016 filing season, free tax volunteers filed 3.3 million returns generating $4 billion in refunds for working families.

In addition to participating in outreach efforts and free tax filing, partners connected clients to important financial services, including opening bank accounts, learning about financial education, and accessing savings bonds. Many organizations assisted more community members by offering facilitated self-assistance sites, mobiles sites, and virtual VITA. With the help of schools, financial institutions, and businesses, our partners expanded their reach and services.

From refund delays to ITIN renewals (not to mention new tax software), the 2017 tax season may be even busier than usual. We hope you take this time to rest and recharge for the new year.

Happy holidays from the Get It Back Campaign!

Get It Back Campaign

For more than 25 years, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has led a national effort to promote tax benefits that provide critical work supports for employees earning low to moderate wages. Get It Back Campaign partners include community organizations, employers, social service programs, advocacy groups, government agencies, financial institutions and many others who help connect workers to the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the Child Tax Credit (CTC), and free tax filing assistance.

Each year, millions of eligible workers risk missing out on these important federal tax benefits because they do not know they qualify, do not know how to claim the credits or do not know where to find free tax filing assistance. Your outreach efforts can ensure that eligible workers can receive the tax credits they’ve earned.
